Why Donate?
Donations can help photographers to purchase better equipment, attend workshops, and promote their work. Photographers can use donations to fund their projects and help them to continue their creative pursuits. Additionally, donating to photographers is a great way to show appreciation for their work and help them to continue creating amazing images.
Pay Me Monies?
I absolutely loathe writing this. For the longest time I’ve had a negative view of the whole Patreon “please donate to support independent creators” concept, primarily because of the overt begging a lot of the people who depend on donations to make a living end up of having to do (and to be honest, at least some of them make a considerable profit doing it). It’s demeaning to the person pleading for income and it’s annoying to the audience having to hear it. But. And what an ugly but it is. Donations have become one of the main sources of income for independent creators. And boy, wouldn’t I be an idiot if I didn’t utilize all avenues that could get me closer to my professional goals? Time and circumstance makes hypocrites of us all.
And with that desperate bout of self-rationalization, below I’ll share the various ways you can support me if you so wish (currently limited to BuyMeACoffee), whether you’re someone that I’ve already been able to help out and wanted to return the favour or whether you’re just someone who likes some of the work I’ve done and feel like assisting a novice photographer. If you don’t want to or can’t. That’s 100% totally cool. You’ll never be asked for anything other than this blurb for as long as I’ve got a “free photography” page up. Sharing some of my content or giving a like on social media is a tremendous help too. It’s just fun knowing that people are digging anything I’m producing.
